Ex-Astor Family - Bentley 4¼ Litre "Shooting Brake" - 1937 Bentley 4¼ Litre Carrying the rare Jones Brothers of London shooting-brake coachwork. Bodied specifically with country pursuits in mind for the Astor estate and commissioned by the Honourable John Jacob Astor. The Bentley stands as a testament to the Astor family’s remarkable trans-Atlantic legacy - an uncommon chapter in which an American dynasty took its place within the traditions of British public life.

Notable features include fifth and sixth rear-facing seats that fold outward for shooting parties, together with a concealed English-walnut slide-out bar table, a hallmark of high-quality pre-war coachwork. The Bentley served as a genuine estate shooting vehicle, combining the smooth, long-legged character of the 4¼-litre straight-six with the practical versatility required for field use.

Period shooting brakes - often known as “woodies” - were built in small numbers. Very few were executed on Bentley chassis.

Only one other Jones Brothers, Bentley of this style is known to exist.
