1969 Alexis Mk 15 Formula Ford

The 1969 Alexis Mk15 Formula Ford is one of the cars that helped establish Formula Ford as the premier training ground for generations of racing drivers. Most famously, James Hunt began his racing career in an Alexis Mk15, cementing the model's place in motorsport history.

Formula Ford was a major part of Northeast SCCA racing throughout the late 1960s and 1970s, and cars like this would have been a familiar sight competing at Bridgehampton during the circuit's golden era. Powered by the iconic 1600cc Ford Kent engine and built around a lightweight spaceframe chassis, the Mk15 embodies the simple, balanced, and driver-focused philosophy that made Formula Ford one of the world's most successful racing categories.

Only approximately 70 Alexis Mk15s were produced, making the model a rare survivor today. This particular car has been continuously campaigned in the United States since the early 1970's. I purchased it in 2022 from the previous owner based in VA, who raced and maintained it for nearly two decades at vintage events throughout the East Coast. Since acquiring the car, I have continued that tradition by actively racing, maintaining, and preserving it across the Northeast vintage racing community. It has become a regular entrant at Lime Rock Park's historic racing events, where it continues to compete in the spirit for which it was originally built more than half a century ago.
