1957 Ferrari 250 GT

Chassis 0885GT was completed by Ferrari in late 1957 and dispatched to Carrozzeria Ellena to be bodied in their high roof coupe style.  It was racing in the U.S. by 1958, and it quickly lost its original motor. It continued racing with a Ford V8 until it was abandoned in the early 1980s with no engine or transmission and a damaged and rusty body. Now reunited with the original "comp" engine & transmission; the rear end, wheels, brakes, suspension and instruments are all original. The body fitted is not original to the chassis, but X-ray fluorescence spectrometry proves scientifically that it was built in Italy in the 1960s, while research reveals it was built in Modena by Allegretti during his tenure at Carrozzeria Sports Cars ("Drogo"). Chassis 0885gt competed in the 2025 California Mille.
