1971 Alfa Romeo Giulia Super
Born in Italy and enjoyed as originally intended for around 30 years, this Alfa Romeo Giulia Super (Type 105 saloon) was imported from Italy to the United States in the late 90s and converted to a race car.
The car, campaigned by Dana Loomis, competed at VDCA (Vintage Drivers Club of America) / VSCCA events from 2005 to 2009.
Andrew Watry acquired the Super in 2009. It again raced at VSCCA and CSRG (Classic Sports Racing Group) events and AROSC time trials, and was used to run racing schools.
The car has been campaigned at many US race tracks including VIR, Sears Point, Buttonwillow, Thunderhill, Laguna Seca, and Willow Springs.
From there, the car was sold to Anthony Rimicci, owner of Santos Italian Car Services in Los Angeles, California. Anthony and his team restored the car, including an engine refresh, bodywork, and a respray in its original verde muschio in prep for the Targa California. While at Santos, the car was raced and shown, including being a feature car at Concorso Italiano in 2018.
The present owner acquired the car from Anthony in 2018 and moved it to the East Coast. In preparation for the Targa Newfoundland, additional work was completed to level up the Super, including installing a full fire suppression system, 22-gallon ATL fuel cell, Alfaholics wheels and motor upgrades, new brakes, upgraded suspension, etc.
This Super is not just a race car; it's a versatile machine that is ready for road, rally, and race.
