1973 Porsche 911S ‘Brumos’
In late 1972, Porsche announced that it would produce, in limited numbers the 911RS. A purpose built special 911 with a 2.7 liter high specification engine with 210 hp. Its main objective was to provide a car that could be easily converted into a race car, for its customers who were so inclined.
News of the new car spread quickly, and demand was at a fever pitch. Unfortunately for customers in the US, the car was only available in the European market. Peter Gregg, who owned Brumos Porsche in Jacksonville, Florida, a dealership known for its affiliation to Brumos Racing, decided to build a 911 based on the 1973 911S, to emulated the Factory built RS. But also to tailor make each one to the individual customers taste.
About seven cars in total were built.
This car is chassis number 0753, and was built to order for a Mr. Ray. He wanted as high performance a car possible, and also wanted it to be able to reach 150mph. So, it was fitted with a very tall 5th gear, and a 2.7 engine developing more power than a 911RS. Additional effort was made to lighten the car wherever possible.
An absolutely fabulous early 911. A true drivers car, that meets and even exceeds a factory RS on many levels. Unique with its ST bodywork, custom trim , super wide Fuchs alloys and Pirelli P7 tires, it is also a visual piece of eye candy.
