Revs exists to steer automobile heritage forward, not hold it in place.

Revs approaches the automobile not as a product, but as one of the defining artifacts of modern civilization and a force that continues to shape how societies move, work, design, and think. Its mission is to be the world’s most useful resource for understanding, preserving, and steering automobile heritage.

Revs began with a collection, but it was never about collecting. The acquisition of the Cunningham Collection in 1986 laid the foundation for a new way of thinking about automobiles as living systems that carry knowledge, intent, and cultural significance. As the collection expanded through the 1990s, a central question evolved. It was no longer simply a matter of what to preserve, but of what to restore when machines are removed from use. By 2008, Revs had emerged.

Preservation does not mean immobilization. Revs’ organizing principle, Active Matter, holds that objects derive meaning through use. Every car is meant to be studied, repaired, experienced, and driven. Function is not opposed to preservation; it is essential to it. This philosophy informs every part of Revs.

Revs Museum

Revs Museum in Naples, Florida, presents rare, historic, road-ready automobiles without ropes or barriers. Each vehicle is treated as a working artifact, telling a story of craftsmanship, intent, and human capability.

Revs Archives

Revs Archives in Fort Myers serves as the organization’s intellectual core. It houses more than 120 archival collections, including over 26,000 books, 200,000 issues of magazines and journals, and an expanding library of 700,000 digitized images, with another 1.2 million pieces to be processed, all curated to preserve and advance the study of automotive history.

Revs Research

Revs Research builds on this foundation, establishing historical truth and cultural context. The work defines why a car matters, how it shaped its era and future technology, and what it reveals about the world that produced it.

Revs Media

Revs Media extends this work globally. Through writing, film, and digital storytelling, it makes the process visible and knowledge accessible. Active Matter is most evident here, where craft, use, and preservation are shared openly rather than confined behind institutional walls.

Revs Education

Education represents one of Revs’ most urgent commitments. Hands-on programs place engines, tools, and real machines at the center of learning. Designed to educate all ages, from high school students to experienced enthusiasts, they ensure that automotive intelligence becomes a practiced skill rather than an abstraction.

Revs Reserve

Revs Reserve applies these principles, delivering museum-grade storage and care for private owners and collectors. With locations in Delray Beach and, soon, 64,500 sq ft of new facilities in Naples, Revs Reserve extends Revs’ standards for knowledge, climate control, maintenance, and resilience, without separating ownership from responsibility.
