2010 Alfa Romeo TZ3 Stradale Zagato

This car is the last of only nine examples of the Alfa Romeo TZ3 Stradale ever built. Conceived by Carrozzeria Zagato as a design exercise paying homage to the legendary TZ2, the TZ3 Stradale was created to celebrate Alfa Romeo's 100th anniversary and Zagato's own 90th. It wears the traditional Alfa Romeo serpent badge, complemented by the laurel wreath commemorating Alfa's 1925 World Grand Prix Championship.

Beneath its sensuous, hand-formed carbon fiber bodywork, penned by Zagato designer Norihiko Harada, the TZ3 Stradale conceals the venomous heart of a Dodge Viper ACR: an 8.4-liter all-aluminum V10 producing in the region of 600 to 640 horsepower, paired to a six-speed manual gearbox driving the rear wheels. It is a rare and unlikely marriage of Italian coachbuilding artistry and American V10 muscle.

Hallmark Zagato design cues abound throughout the design, including the signature coda tronca (truncated Kamm tail), the double-bubble roofline, and rounded, covered headlamps; all details that trace their lineage directly back to the original 1960s Tubolare Zagato racers. True to Zagato's guiding philosophy, "La bellezza è necessaria" (beauty is necessary) the TZ3 Stradale stands as a modern expression of a design language nearly a century in the making.
