1991 Porsche RUF BTR 3.8

This exceptional RUF BTR 3.8 began life as a 1991 964 Turbo that was shipped from Boston to Pfaffenhausen and transformed in 1997. RUF installed a donor 3.6 Turbo block which was bored to 3.8 liters, replaced the original five-speed gearbox with a RUF R50/50 six-speed, and fitted electronic fuel injection alongside other period mechanical work.

The first owner used the car regularly for 25 years, so when it arrived with the current owner it wore the patina of long service.
Over the past two years the car has undergone a ground-up restoration and an upgrade to RUF “Ultimate” specification executed in close collaboration with RUF Germany. RUF supplied carbon bumpers, spoiler, seats, revised metalwork to accept a center-mount oil cooler, and extensive technical guidance; the owner completed two factory visits, met members of the team who performed the original 1997 conversion, and worked directly with RUF on parts selection and fitment. Sympathetic mechanical refreshes—including a turbo rebuild and modern engine management—yielded over 500 hp while original, hand-made elements such as the fiberglass airbox and the small-batch cast-aluminum manifold were carefully refurbished.

The result preserves the spirit and provenance of the 1997 BTR 3.8 conversion while delivering contemporary RUF performance.
